Happy New Year to all my wonderful clients and blog readers!!! To kick this year off to a good start, I am so incredibly excited to announce that I am moving my website and blog into one sleek, simple blogsite! I have been wanting to do this for so long, but between my sessions and a newborn, I was unable to do it until now. Farewell, blogspot.

Also, I hope you will LOVE the new look of Joy Alice Photography as much as I do. This change has been a long time coming and it feels so 'me'. I hope you agree!

I am testing out my new blog signature and thought I would share a favorite from this summer. When I first saw this image, it made my heart do flip-flops. Still does!!

As for the new signature...I just got a Wacom Tablet in the mail from the fabulous Brooke, and I am having SO much fun with it! Expect lots of blog changes in the future....

I know my blog has been very silent lately, and I have already delivered most of my galleries before I was able to blog them...but as I was organizing my folders tonight I realized that I never blogged this session, and I just had to share!!!
So, you may remember these boys from last year...back when I didn't have a little boy of my own. Well, that may be different now, but what hasn't changed is how much I love photographing THESE boys. They are my little muses. Things were a bit different this year, seeing as how I had a beach ball belly and couldn't lay on my stomach quite like I had been able to in the past...and I was't quite as agile as I had been in the past...but we still had a good time filled with great images.

Holiday Cards!!

I know it has taken me forever to get my Holiday Card options up, and once again, THANK YOU to my patient, patient clients. I have some exciting new options for you this year, along with offering the traditional flat, folded, and trifold cards, I am also offering cards that are cut into shapes. I have a scalloped square 5x7, scalloped 5x5, round scallop, round, and ornate. Prices for the shaped cards are as follows:

$50 per package of 25. Orders of 100 or more cards, $45 per package. You can choose a traditional flat finish, watercolor finish, linen finish, or pearl finish at no additional charge. They come with white envelopes and you can choose to have your address printed on the envelopes for .10 per envelope.

I can customize almost all of the templates below to fit on the shaped cards, if you choose.

Prices for the traditional cards remain the same as last year and are as follows:

This family not only has gorgeous children, but also had some gorgeous, vintage props for our session. I am absolutely in love with the beautiful pram they had and wanted to stash it away in my car...and don't even get me started on their amazing scooters! I was in photography heaven. Pair this with absolutely beautiful children...sigh. Wonderful! These beauties were a bit serious, but still stunning. Enjoy!

Seeing Double...

No, you are not seeing double! These cuties look SO much alike, but mom tells me that they are not identical. Isn't that amazing? Even while processing this session, I had to really keep track of who's pictures I had done and who's I was doing. Twins just amaze me...and these almost-two-year-old twins were SUCH a delight! They were hilarious to watch play together, so busy, and so, so sweet. The whole family is simply beautiful. I am excited to share this one, I love the interactions between the girls. Love it!

Please pardon my lack of creativity entitling my post this week. For those of you who may not know, I am a ticking time bomb at this point...no more than 2 weeks left until my baby boy arrives and I am busy trying to complete all the sessions I have left. I hate combining sessions into one post (I think each family deserves their own!) but due to time restraints, I have to do it this way.

This stunning girl is so full of personality and beauty. She is a senior in Indianapolis who traveled to Bedford to have me do her pictures. I had never shot in Bedford before, it is so charming and lovely, just like her. It was a good time full of fun and adventure!

Moving forward, I have two sneak peaks tonight! Both of these families have two times the love- one with (almost) two year old twins and one with two sweet little girls. The thing these families have in common? LOTS of energy! I'll admit that I was nervous that at 8 months pregnant I would not be able to keep up with all the little ones...but I surprised myself. I suppose that once the sessions get going, I forget I am pregnant because I am able to lose myself in the joy these darling children exude. It is contagious! Anyway, without further ado:

So, if you are wondering about the title of this post, I chose the word 'enormous' because this is most likely going to be the largest blog post of all time AND because this is the largest family I have ever photographed. I tried to whittle the images down and keep it to a less obscene number, but alas, I just could not bring myself to edit out any of the grandkids' darling faces. So hold on to your hats because this one is a doozy! (In a good way.)

I am actually related to one of these gorgeous kids, and when they asked me to photograph their family I simply could not refuse. I knew it would be so much fun to work with them, and I was right!

I am finally back in Bloomington and so happy to be home! Thanks for hanging in there with me while my blog was so quiet, and thank you so much to my incredibly awesome clients in Utah who are waiting so patiently for their images. I am hard at work, I promise you!

Bloomington clients: I regret to say that I am entirely booked through the end of the year, with the exception of NEWBORN sessions. If you are pregnant and would like to discuss a newborn session, please send me an email. There will be a period of time where I won't be able to fit any in due to my own little one being born...but I will schedule the best I can.

Complete Happiness

I know I have been missing for a few weeks, and after this post I will most likely have a few more weeks of blog silence...I am still on my mega-trip and although my blog has been quiet, my camera has not! I have been shooting session after session here in Utah, and a wedding in Arizona, too. So, when I return, I will have tons to share.

In the meantime, I am here to share a few of my favorite images from the wedding I photographed this weekend in Arizona. The couple was GORGEOUS and so completely happy, it radiated from every image. Thanks to my friend, Kathy Scoffield, for letting me take over her computer, teaching me how to edit on a mac, and letting me invade her house for the entire. day. so that I could get these edited in time for their reception. (We shot these a week before the reception so they could display them there. I HIGHLY recommend this- we had all afternoon with no interuptions to jump from location to awesome location and get tons of amazing images!)

My FAVORITE image of the day. It made me giddy to see this one enlarged at the reception. Swoon!!!

Was that a crazy storm last night or what? I hope you all are safe and enjoying the beautiful (albeit hot) weather today! This little girl was literally a ray of sunshine on a series of rainy days! It took a lot of rescheduling, but we were finally able to do their session, and I must say that she was a delight. Her smile lit up the whole campus, people couldn't help but stop and talk to her.

I know things have been a bit quiet around my blog lately and I feel the need to explain...I am pregnant and just finishing up my first trimester! As anyone who has been pregnant knows, I have been tired an ill for the past few weeks. I had a feeling it would be this way, so once I got my positive result, I did not schedule any sessions for March. As a result, things will be quiet for the next few weeks while I try and regain my grasp on life.

I do have a lot of spring sessions scheduled for April and May which I am so looking forward to! Even though I have been sick, I have been missing my camera and sessions so much. I look forward to getting back in the swing of things.

Along with taking this month off, obviously I will be taking a maternity leave when the baby comes...which is mid-October. This was pretty much my craziest time of year last year, so I am trying to give all of my awesome clients plenty of notice. I will not be available during those last few weeks of October this year! So be sure to schedule your session for Spring or Summer, or if you are really dying for a fall session, book early so you get a slot!

Thank you for being so wonderful and for all the congratulations you have given me so far. I feel so lucky to love what I do and love all the clients I work with.

I don't know about you, but I am ready for Spring! This has been my first full winter in Bloomington, and it has been a real experience for me. I discovered that I cannot continue shooting outdoors in January unless I want to lose a finger to frostbite...so I started experimenting with indoor lighting.

I am not quite ready to start offering indoor studio sessions, but I thought I would share this practice session, regardless.

Beautiful Calm

This session was awesome. I was thrilled to work with these gorgeous parents-to-be. When I arrived, it was literally hours before a snowstorm hit-and I will admit that I was a bit nervous at first about the gray sky, but as we went outside and stood in this amazing field, it was just....calm. Quiet. Peaceful. It reminded me of this darling couple and how they have only a few weeks until they experience a whole new type of calm and peace. That feeling has made me fall even more in love with these images. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Okay, I am a bit of a girly-girl...alright I am just downright girly. I don't know much about rolling in the dirt or throwing rocks into a stream for hours on end, but I have to tell you...I loved, loved, LOVED hanging out with these boys. A few weeks ago I treked up to Michigan to visit my good friend and awesome photographer, Jean Smith. While I was there I assisted her in photographing a beautiful couple on their wedding day. Anyone who knows me knows that the thought of shooting a wedding has always made me want to break out in hives, but I will confess that a part of me wanted to see what it was all about. This little flower girl was so incredibly precious.

I have to just interject here and say that, in general, men do not like having a camera in their face...but this groom was incredibly awesome and had us literally rolling on the ground the whole day.

Darling Bloomington Family

This cute family chose the gorgeous setting of IU for their session, and it was so fun to see all the awesome nooks and crannies of the campus. I don't often spend time there simply because there are no students in our family, so it was a real treat to get an insider view of it. This sweet little girl was amazingly patient as we trudged through the campus in the freezing weather! I was so impressed by how happy she was despite the cold.

I am just squeezing in my Fashion Friday post for this week! Once again I neglected FF last week, this season is just so busy for me that I haven't had a lot of time to compile 'looks'. I saw these gorgeous outfits on Gap.com and they just screamed classy holiday to me. I love the red mixed with the gray, black, and cream, but not in a cheesy way. It makes me want to go to an ultra fantastic holiday party. If you are looking for a classier look for your holiday card (like something out of a magazine ad), this could be an awesome look.

Also, I will not be accepting sessions from Nov. 17 through Dec. 1, I will be on vacation. Fashion Friday!

Another Friday has come. Hopefully no one looked to closely to see that I completely let Friday pass me by last week!! Oh well. I will give you double the fun today.

I went shopping at the new Crazy 8 store and let me tell you...I really did go crazy. LOVE that place! I was sad that I couldn't find all the cute things they had in the store online, but I still put together a nice spread. Love the purples and green mixed with a hint of orange.

The amazingly talented Melissa Davis and I have teamed up to create some Fashion Friday highlights...and she is not only awesome with fashion, but also incredibly good at putting the looks together in the photo. In the weeks to come, you can have fun guessing which ones she put together, and which ones I did. (It won't be hard to tell!)

I have known this fabulous mommy since we were in Jr. High, I was so thrilled when she asked me to photograph her darling family when I was in Utah. Her little twins are just the cutest things ever! And since she already announced that she is pregnant (Yay!) I thought I would add that she kept worrying she had a baby bump at the shoot. Um, no, right? You couldn't have looked more fabulous, A!! I hope you love your pictures.

Wide Awake Cuteness

Even though this little cutie didn't want to sleep for me...at all...ever...we still got some darling images from this session.

Like newborns? I hope so because it seems like everyone here in Bloomington is a ticking time bomb this month. :) I LOVE little squishies, so I am beyond excited. Just remember that your newborn session needs to be within the first ten days of life!

Little Sweetness

Oh how I love this child. Granted, this isn't just any darling chub of delight, I am actually related to this one. She is my sweet niece, and since she doesn't live here in Bloomington, I had to take LOTS of photos of her so my girls and I can oogle over her whenever we want.

My darling friend Brooke came in town from Las Vegas so she joined me for this session and had the awesome idea to incorporate the beautiful apple trees into this session. Apple anyone?

Fashion Friday

Hello! I am finally back from vacation and back to the grind of things. I am so excited to process all the awesome sessions I had before I left and while I was gone...but for now I would like to introduce you to something new: Fashion Friday! I have an infinite number of inquiries about what would be appropriate to wear to a session, so in the spirit of having awesome outfits on my clients, I bring you the first Fashion Friday.

I had the opportunity to have a session with two of the most gorgeous parents-to-be last week, and I am so excited about their sneak peak. They were so awesome, I can't wait to go back for their newborn session.

Utah Sessions

It's that time of year again!! We are coming to Utah, and of course I will be doing a few sessions while I am there. I am already mostly booked, but I do have a couple of slots left for sessions. I don't often photograph large families, where the children are mostly young adults, but I have to say, I really enjoyed it! It was nice having everyone look at the camera without having to make animal noises or sing on the top of my lungs!

I was nervous, however, because I love capturing interactions within families and I felt it would be a bit more tough without having little ones in the mix...but as I filtered through, I fell in love with so many. DISCLAIMER TO FAMILY: Dont' worry, I have plenty where no one is laughing their heads off. I just happened to love the ones where you are.

These parents must feel such an awesome sense of accomplishment with the amazing children they have produced.

Before I post the pictures, I want to clearly explain this project. I am assisting the Down Syndrome Family Connection of Bloomington, IN, in their fundraiser for the year. They will take these pictures and put them in a calendar which they will then sale to raise money for the Association.
This project has been one of the most gratifying things I have ever done. Each individual was so special to me in their own way, and I always left feeling very uplifted and privileged to work with them. I am so glad that I could be involved.
Okay, onto the pictures! It is going to be picture overload, but I really wanted to post at least one picture of each individual involved. I will be posting more over the next few days, but here is the first set.

This little doll just turned one. She is one of my favorite babies to photograph! You may remember her from THIS session. I have to say that I am absolutely in love with her gorgeous eyes. Her eyelashes are UNbelievable, and her blue eyes are incredible. I love this little girl!

One thing I absolutely LOVE about newly standing babies is how they always go up on their tip-toes!

Mothers. Daughters.

There is a huge soft spot in my heart for mom's with their daughters, which was why I was super excited to do this session with the fabulous Heather Mickey, who is also a photographer and did my family's pictures recently (which I love!)

Anyway, I had a blast at this session (although I was quite nervous to photograph another photographer!) and I have about a thousand favorites, so I apologize for the picture overload but I just couldn't choose!!

It is SO good to be back in Bloomington! I have missed it a lot and I am excited to jump back in to my sessions here- I have a lot of fun projects coming up that I am really excited about, and can't wait to share!

I am also so thrilled by the response I had to my last post with people coming out of hiding and booking their sessions. Since I had such a great response, I am now almost completely booked until September. I have a couple of open slots left, so if you are still contemplating, please let me know ASAP!
I will ALWAYS have room for newborns, so if you are expecting, just let me know and I can pencil in your due date as a tentative reminder that your little bundle will need a session around that time. Remember, I love to do those newborn sessions within 10 days of life to ensure those squishy, folded poses that we all love!

And speaking of expecting, here is a peak of a gorgeous mommy-to-be that I photographed in Salt Lake City. Love her and love these pictures.

Wait, did I say peak? I meant, huge preview, hahaha. I just loved this session so much! Thanks to mommy 'E' for being so gorgeous and willing to try anything!

One more fun thing about this session, while we were up on ensign peak trying to capture that awesome rainbow, we noticed that there was a couple getting engaged at the top! So I hurried and snapped a few while we could. So here is YOUR peak, newly engaged lovebirds!! :)

Life is Tough

This senior had me smiling the whole session, she was so full of life and personality. Top Model jokes were flying between her, her mom, and her sister, and I really enjoyed every minute of it. As you can see, she made a wonderful model for me!

Her sister jumped into a few pictures and she is absolutely darling, too. I adore sister pictures, that's no secret!

I know I have been MIA for quite some time, so if I still have any readers out there, thanks for sticking with me! We have been so crazy moving in and then celebrating the holiday, but now it is time to buckle down and get some sessions going. I have a few that will be blogged soon, so check back!

I am so sad to announce that I will be moving to Indiana mid-February and will no longer be able to take sessions. If you would like a final session with me, PLEASE let me know A.S.A.P. and I will get you in.

I am going to miss all of my wondeful clients here in Arizona. It is such a unique relationship that develops when I am invited into someone's home to record their intimate family moments, and I am sad that I won't get to see these families grow. Thanks so much for all your support.
